Just going off Hippie’s question. If it was a Jewish child instead of a Jehovah’s Witness that said Santa wasn’t real, would you have a problem? How would you deal with your child’s questions … any differently?
Also what if it was Jesus instead of Santa would that be different?
A Jewish kid would never say that G-d is not real! G-d and Jesus are not the same thing to us.

"breaking the news" about santa isn’t the issue. It’s the every day telling my son that santa isn’t real and christmas is bad and he shouldn’t be celebrating it.

There has been religious persecution ever since there was more than one religion.

I saw on the news about how a Jewish newspaper photoshopped Hillary Clinton out of that iconic white house photo of the staff watching the raid on Bin Laden, because seeing a woman in power offends them so much.

So are women really that oppressed and looked down upon in Jewish society?

I thought the stereotype was that Jewish men are spineless and feminine and get pushed around by their women a lot. But this contradicts this.

First, that was in a Hasidic newspaper. The Hasidic Jews are the most fundamentalist Jews in America, kind of like Fred Phelps is the most fundamentalist type of Christian in America. Do all Christians protest military funerals and say all soldiers are going to hell?

Second, the Hasidic Jews believe that you’re not supposed to show photographs of women in print. This does not imply or mean they believe women should be beaten or treated badly. But the fact that they were willing to essentially change the facts of an event as it was represented in a photograph was troubling, in a way that they still don’t seem to understand.
