He thinks he is half jewish. Same goes for this guy:
How does this work? Is it like being half-christian half-bhuddist or something?
Theres no such thing. In Judaism, if you have a Jewish mother or if you converted, then your Jewish. If you have a Jewish father and your observant, then in Reform and Reconstructionist judaism, your still Jewish. Nothing about being "half", "quarter" or "part" jewish. Your Jewish or not. End of story.
you cant be half Jewish, you are either Jewish or not

You are only "half" of something if you are using blood as the basis and it’s a racial thing. Judiasm is NOT a race! One is either a Jew or one is not.

It’s a symptom of confusion.
And using a definition invented by outsider to justify their prejudice rather than Judaism’s criteria.

well jews are also an ethnicity, they have a different genetic makeup to other ethnic groups (though they are very close genetically to arabs)

they are an ethno-religious group (not all ethnic jews follow the religion) and the original ethnic jews are from iraq.

Ofcourse if gentiles convert they are religiously jewish but not ethnically.
let them consider themselves whatever they want.

Religiously you either are or you aren’t. Ethnically, you could call yourself ½ Jewish if only one of your parents is Jewish.

Jews, don´t be fools. If someone´s father is Spanish and mother is Turk, who is he? Half- Spanish, half- Turk. If someone´s father is Jewish, but mother is not- he is half- Jewish by birth. The religion has nothing to do with our blood lineage.

As others have said, there is no status in Judaism as being half (or other fractions) Jewish. You are either Jewish or not.
The term "Half Jewish" is used by people that are usually not Jewish and usually observes another religion, but describe themselves in such a way because one of their parents is Jewish. Usually they are trying to say that they have something in common that they share with with Jews, while they themselves are not actually observant Jews.
But to repeat what others have said, according to Jewish teachings, you either are or are not Jewish. There is no middle ground.

it’s impossible to be "half" jewish. most of my family is jewish but there are some catholics in the family. that doesn’t make me any less jewish. usually when people refer to that they are referring to blood. most of the time those people aren’t religious. like i said you can’t be half jewish. it’s not like you can only believe in half the commandments or something.

No such thing. EITHER YOUR JEWISH OR NOT. your moms jewish, then you are too. you don’t have to be jewish to go under the law of return. You can have a jewish father, and a christian mother.

half jewish is originally a german term i think. they have words for half-jewish, 1/4-jewish (one grandparent) and 1/16-jewish (one great grandparent)
it means that your father is jewish…
however, jews don;t regard this as jewish at all! you are only jewish if your mother is jewish… or you maternal grandmother (which means your mother is and you are too). i’m adding that because you find a lot of people that say: i’m not jewish but my grandmother was..

Judaism is a religion, but most jews also have an ethnic identity (whether it’s a real or not). I’m not at all religious, but I strongly identify as an Ashkenazi Jew. If someone asks me what my ethnic background is, I say, I’m a jew, because that’s what I believe I am. My ancestors lived in Europe, in countries like Russia and Poland, but they did not self-identify as Russian or Polish. BTW, I believe that any group of people that remains isolated and does not intermarry with other groups has it’s own identity. The Amish in America are a good example. Most are descended from just a few hundred people that came to this country hundreds of years ago. They have their own unique customs, religion, culture, etc. They very rarely intermarry or take on converts, so you could see, if you were an Amish person that abandoned the group, you would probably still self-identify with being Amish, and you’re children, even if they were "Half-Amish", would as well.
