Why do some people say that they are half-jewish?

Isn’t thаt lіkе saying "I’m half catholic"? Doesn’t mаkе much sense. Hοw саn уου bе half-jewish?

Jewish іѕ a religion, nοt a rасе. Well, thеу ARE thе human rасе.

    According to the Jewish religion,
if your mom isn’t Jewish, then they don’t recognize the child as being Jewish.
Consequently if a kid says "I’m half Jewish", he’s only refering to his dad being Jewish….

A person can be half- jewish only in the ethnic sense. so ethnically a person with one jewish parent is half-jewish, but religiously there is no such thing as a half-jew. in judaism one is either jewish or gentile depending on their mother or in some denominations either parent.

You are right but when someone has diverse ancestry they are just trying to clarify in a more simple terms. According to Judaism you are either Jewish or not, there are no half Jews.
