answer: It was suggested to me to pick up the book "The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Understanding judaism" by a Rabbi. It’s actually a really good book that covers a lot and it’s a great read.

The recommendation to read the OT isn’t quite correct. The Christian OT isn’t an accurate translation or order of the jewish Tanakh. For an English translation look for the Stone or Ascoll ones. The advice to read the NT isn’t relevant at all. Jesus has nothing to do with Judaism and the NT has nothing to do with Judaism, I’m afraid.
