How did the jewish people remember their identity to be able to return home?

The first three hateful answers are sadly typical of what Jews confront on a regular basis. To clarify: the 0.1% of the region that became Israel, was ALREADY home to a Jewish majority.

The only Palestinian Arabs being killed are HAMAS TERRORISTS who have spent the past eight years slaughtering innocent Israeli civilians.

    To resolution the post:

Firstly, a Jewish presence never left the region of Judea, which the Romans renamed ‘palestina’. There have been Jews living there for the past 3500 years, non stop.

That said, it is somewhat incredible that Jews, scattered across the globe, have remained so cohesive. Partly it’s because we all have the same religious texts. If you take a Torah from Jews in one people, and compare it with the Torah of Jews halfway across the world – they will be IDENTICAL.

The oral Torah, or Talmud, played a huge part in our continued identity as well. It provided a framework and instruction in HOW to apply Jewish religious law in non Jewish lands, and in other societies and all manner of situations.

Also, it’s sad but right that the continued hatred towards Jews, down through the ages, has served to bind us more closely with our fellow Jews in other countries. The first three responses to THIS post are a prime example.

LOL LOL – I resolution the post and get thumbs down? Hilarious.

    Re the TRIBES:

They knew which tribe they were from at the start and besides, it really doesn’t make any difference; ALL the tribes followed the same Judaism. No difference.

26 I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the memory of them to stop from among men:
    Deut 32:26 (KJV)
Doesn’t say a thing about the Jews forgetting where they came from or that they forget anything else.

They can continue to argue about it year after year. But when God comes back to this earth to gather His Children of Israel, whom ever they are, he will know. And by the way, the original twelve tribes of Israel were diverse nationalities. Not just Jews. and not just living in Judea or Jerusalem. They were scattered like the Bible says. So only God really knows who the Right seed of Abraham is.
I sugest until then, why not just like one another, help one another and make this a better world until then. That seems like using our energy better.
