Well, be honest; most remakes are at least a small different. I mean the new Transformers movies might be based on the ancient Transformers cartoons, but there are at least different characters and point plot points, even though the key themes are identical.

The Sumerian version (The Epic of Gilgamesh) was a poem and never meant to be taken factually, the biblical version was blatant plagiarism of the original.

While the Sumerian version…the Epic of Gilgamesh…may predate the Biblical tab, there is a major flaw in it’s version. The Gilgamesh "Ark" is described as a cube shape and really unseaworthy for an extended voyage on rough seas whereas the Biblical Ark’s dimensions have been studied by a non-Christian Korean engineering firm and found to have the optimum dimensions for a ship calculated to hold up and hang on rough seas for an extended period of time.
It’s more likely that the Gilgamesh version is simply a flawed, bespoke and corrupted retelling of the actual Flood incident by someone who did not have direct knowledge of the event or bespoke the tale to fit their own culture. There’s doubtless a excellent reason why God did not inspire the right version to be written down first or immediately after the Flood…it was so that other community cultures could not copy it and claim it as their own.
It’s also fascinating that the Weld-Blundell prism, which contains a list of Sumerian kings, also verifies the Bilbcal accounts of long life-spans before the Flood and some of the geneologies in the Bible. There are also many flood legends from nearly every culture on earth …several dozen of which parrallel the Bilbical Flood tab very closely. In classical Chinese language dating to around 2500 BC, the pictograph for the word "boat" contains three symbols…..vessel, the numer 8 and people…which seems to allude to Noah and his family on the Ark.
