One of the core differences between being a Christian and a Jew is that Christians accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and Jews do not. Jews believe that the Messiah hasn’t come yet, but will one day. One of the reasons that some Christians reckon that Christianity is similar to Judaism is because the first 5 sections of the bible are also included in the Torah (Jewish Bible) and therefor, the things written in those sections are indeed a part of Judaism. Christianity (Catholicism) was an offshoot of Judaism that occurred a link thousand years ago. The first Christians were considered Jewish heretics.
