Jewish Neo Nazis – Just seen the news story on the BBC – still gobsmacked.?

March 6th, 2010

Am I the only one that thinks this is the most idiotic thing ever? Despite having a holocaust survivor in the family and apparently being aware of his adopted countries history and the history of his family, one of these numbnuts actually thought (maybe thought is too strong a word) that attacking synagogues, orthodox Jews, memorials and adopting the anti semitic practices of the last nazi regime was a good idea.

Lets have some current affairs dialogue that doesn’t include the word "McCann"

It proves what I believe to be the case with neo-nazis, they are brainless idiots, as are those that believe that that neo-nazi organisations such as the BNP are good for the UK.

why do Jews respect Jewish books?

March 6th, 2010

like siddur, torah and those types of books?

Well, there are a couple of ways of looking at this.

Firstly, as most people here said, people give huge respect to the books of their faiths and beliefs, because it is the holder of what they live by; it contains their beliefs and what they hold dear. It is holy to them, which brings about the second point.

The second way of looking at this is the fact that these books are considered holy to Jews. The main reason is as the above mentioned: God’s name, and His laws and morals, and so forth, are contained in this book. Jews consider God’s name and law to be the holiest of things, because, as I mentioned, this is what they live by, and it is what shapes the world every day. Therefore, it is understandable that they hold the books in such high respect that they even make sure to kiss it every time they close it, or if the book drops to the floor (at which place these books are not allowed to be by jewish law).

Just think of a precious possession of yours. It may be a precious stone, or–even a better example–an extremely old family book, such as a family tree, that’s been handed down to you from countless generations past. I don’t know if you’re the type of person who can compare with such an example (since many people disregard things completely), but if you are, than I am sure that you understand the respect that you would have for such a book. You would care for it, take care of it, and you would certainly not want such a book lying around on the floor. It’s both disrespectful, and something might happen to it.

Well, this is pretty much how the Jews view and consider these holy books.

Do you think that by selecting racist and anti-semitic Sarah Palin, McCain will lose Hispanics and Jews:?

March 6th, 2010

Earlier in the election, McCain attempted to pander to Hispanics. Yet there were no Hispanic speakers at the RNC. In 2004, George W. Bush won the election thanks to Hispanics voting for him in large numbers. They were the swing vote then and may be the swing vote now.
Sarah Palin is a known racist in her circles in Alaska. She is anti-immigration. She has also made anti-semitic about Jews. jewish voters are concerned about Palin and feel she does not have their best interests. Will McCain lose the critical Latino and Jewish vote because of Palin’s views?

http://blogs.marketwatch.com/election/2008/09/04/courting-the-hispanic-vote-a-growing-constituency/

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/09/05/sarah_palin_good_for_the_jews.html

http://gawker.com/5045441/will-sarah-palin-scare-the-jews

Well, Jews tend to go more Democratic anyway (not all, but most, and I am allowed to say that, because I am one-sort of), I think McCain will loose a lot of the Hispanic vote, but his intent was to pull in the women, and, as terribly sad as it is that anyone would vote for her, it seems to be working a bit. Sarah Palin is a horrible woman, but I think his evil plan might be working. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Have you voted for Leah, the Jewish girl who founded YALDAH at 13 years old, to win $100,000 from Wells Fargo ?

March 6th, 2010

(See background information here:
http://blog.jugglingfrogs.com/2008/09/leah-of-yaldah-is-finalist.html )

17 year old Leah Larson was recently chosen as one of FIVE finalists in Wells Fargo’s "Someday Stories" contest, to expand YALDAH, the magazine she founded when she was 13, a magazine for Jewish girls by Jewish girls.

These five finalists were chosen from over 10,000 entries, and the winner of the $100,000 will be chosen based on the number of votes at the official website.

Due to sabbath observance and the Jewish holidays, observant Jews can’t vote or campaign on her behalf for 15 of the contest days, or almost 33%.

This is quite a disadvantage, but she has the benefit of being the only minor (hence her mother, EVELYN in MA, had to be the official "contestant" on her behalf) and the only one of the five contestants with very clear plans and proven track record.

Yaldah magazine’s mission is to celebrate Jewish girls and women, inspire creativity, leadership, and jewish living.

(To vote for Leah, go to http://www.wellsfargo.com/somedaystories and vote for "EVELYN from MA". To see more about the magazine, see http://www.yaldahmagazine.com )
aussiemate,

Thanks anyway. If you’re not qualified because you’re a Wells Fargo employee, then thank you for being part of the company that made this possible!

If you *think* you’re not qualifed because you’re not in the US, the zipcode thing is just for determining the local distribution of the charitable contributions to Boys and Girls Clubs, Junior Achievement, and Habitat for Humanity.

If you live outside the US, you could use the zipcode for Leah’s home town of Sharon, MA, which is 02067.

Here is the direct link to Leah’s video:

Thats pretty intresting i am going to vote for Leah Larson

Are the stories of Adam and Eve considered as allegories by the Jewish?

March 6th, 2010

Adam and Eve at most represent mankind in the astrological age of Gemini The Twins… and that’s probably stretching it…. but Christians misrepresent the whole myth… the myth is about becoming a God, achieving enlightenment, not worshipping the authoritarian God that wants to keep you ignorant. The Serpent represents wisdom, knowledge, and freedom, Gnosis, achieved by inducing a shamanic out of body spiritual experience by eating an enlightening fruit. The bible is a bunch of astrological and shamanic myths… I can’t believe how gullible these people are… we’re definitely still in the dark ages.

Why do some people say that they are half-jewish?

March 6th, 2010

Isn’t that like saying "I’m half catholic"? Doesn’t make much sense. How can you be half-jewish?

jewish is a religion, not a race. Well, they ARE the human race.

What outside countries helped shape biblical judaism?

March 6th, 2010

Not sure of any of these questions about Judaism. Would appreciate some help.

>>Who were the early rabbis? How did they influence Judaism?

>> How did the Jews in the Middle Ages relate to Christians? to Muslims?

>> What forms of observance did judaism take in 19th and 20th century America?

>>How important is Israel in the life of Judaism worldwide?

I’ve starred it. I don’t have energy to answer right now, but if you leave it open a couple days…I’ll come back. Also, hoping other jewish folks who are in my contact list will spot it.

On #4 Israel – very important. After all the unsafety for Jews in the world, having a homeland of our own again is vital, stunning, a complete surprise. Many Jews feel something very powerful when they go to Israel. For some Jews it’s being in a place with majority Jews where we aren’t tip toeing to the majority is an incredible feeling. For some it’s a religious connection & very deeply felt. Actually for most people — it’s both.

===
ADDITION:

#1 Before there were Rabbi’s there were sages, teachers. They did a lot of studying of Tanakh to determine how to interpret it. Later after the Temple was destroyed, the then Rabbis wrote down the oral information kept from before to create our Talmud. It had more Torah stories kept only orally, plus all the history of the Temple time period & wisdoms of interpretations.
Some names will be on this site: http://www.jewfaq.org
Look for Hillel.

#2 I’m not sure what’s which time period. For a while the Jews lived peacefully under the Muslims. When the Chrisitans started up with the inquision it was horrible. During the crusades, Jews locally were also often targeted as easier to get than the muslims in the middle east. In between they ranged in different areas from bearly tolerated to welcome for a little while to subjugated. This site has good resources: http://www.virtualjewishlibrary.org
As does the http://www.adl.org The picture mostly isn’t pretty. I found documents on the first one about a POPE’s decree that Jews be forced into ghettos & made to wear a distinguishing yellow cloth.

#3 Not sure what they mean. Do they mean the movements that existed which were Reform, Conservative & Orthodox. Do they mean specific types of observances that were followed? Wouldn’t be much different than current Judaism which that first link is about.

Hope that helped!

What are some questions a Jewish rabbi would ask a potential convert to Judaism?

March 6th, 2010

What are some questions a Jewish rabbi would ask a potential convert? Besides why do you want to convert to Judaism.

answer: "Can you attend a weekly class that lasts over 16 weeks?"

"Why do you feel called to Judaism?"

Over time, during the class and time spent working with the rabbi and attending synagogue and celebrating Shabbat (without the blessings) and holidays, the rabbi will determine if he/she believes you’re ready for the final steps. Each rabbinical court will ask different questions (they aren’t out to ‘fail’ anyone). They want to be assured that you know enough about Judaism and hold Jewish beliefs to begin living fully as a Jew.

There will be further questions just before you convert:

Have you severed ties and beliefs of your previous religion?
Do you commit to the Jewish community and promise to be active in the community, Jewish life and keep a jewish home?
If you have children, will they be raised Jewish?

# # #

Princey and other rabid haters of Jews seem to forget that converts have ALWAYS been embraced in judaism, by G-d Himself. Ruth was one famous convert. The Khazar accusation is an old antisemitic dodge that doesn’t hold any legitimate argument. The Khazars faded away before any significant contact with European Jews in the Diaspora. As proven by DNA tests.

Jews are Jews, no matter what their ethnic background is.

Revelation is a political rant disguised as prophecy and was referring to non-Jews pretending to be Jews. That sounds like an odd Christian group I know, not traditional Jews (who have NEVER turned from their religion)

4 Muslims Arrested: NYC Jewish Temple Bomb Plots

March 6th, 2010

05-20-09 – Three black American Muslims, one Haitian Muslim. Probably another “blame the Jews” thing. It’ll never end.

From JihadWatch.org:

Four Muslims arrested in plot to bomb New York synagogues

Four Black Muslims in New York don’t seem to have gotten the memo that the jihad terror threat is all over. “NBC: 4 arrested in plot to bomb NYC targets: Suspects were under heavy surveillance, authorities say,” from NBC News, May 20 (thanks to Pamela):

WASHINGTON – Four men have been arrested in a plot to attack several targets in the New York City area, including synagogues, federal and local authorities told NBC News Wednesday.
Authorities said the four men have long been under investigation and there was little danger they could actually have carried out their plan, NBC’s Pete Williams reported.

Investigators say the four, described as Black Muslims from the Bronx, had planned to place bombs at various targets. But New York city police and federal agents got wind of the plot and kept the men under careful surveillance.

In fact, officials say, the men recently bought what they thought were explosives, which they put in storage lockers outside the city. But what the men did not know is that the material they bought was actually harmless, sold to them by informants posing as explosives dealers….

Two years ago, two Muslims pleaded guilty to plotting to attack synagogues in Los Angeles. But officials said that they knew of no connection between those arrests and this latest plot in New York.

More:

“FBI arrest four in alleged plot to car bomb Bronx synagogue,” by Alison Gendar and Helen Kennedy for the New York Daily News, May 20 (thanks again to Pamela):

The FBI busted a homegrown terror cell late Wednesday night as the men sneaked around a jewish temple in Riverdale planting what they thought were packages of C-4 explosives, sources told the Daily News.
The four men also allegedly had what they believed was a working Stinger missile in their car: officials said they wanted to shoot down a plane near Stewart Air National Guard Base.

Sources said the four men were arrested after a year long investigation that began when an informant connected to a mosque in Newburg said some militants wanted to buy eplosives.

FBI agents posing as militants sold them what they thought were C-4 and a plane-downing Stinger missile.

The weaponry was all phony.

The men were arrested as they planted fake bombs in front of the Riverdale Temple in the Bronx and under cars parked in front of the synagogue.

They also allegedly planned to blow up a second synagogue, the Riverdale Jewish Center….
